A collective voice
for industry.
VASSIWA — the VASSIWA MSME's Welfare Association, formerly known as the Visakha Autonagar Small Scale Industrialists Welfare Association — was registered in 1990 (Reg. No. 550/90) to represent small-scale and MSME industrial enterprises in and around the Autonagar Industrial Estate, Visakhapatnam.
We work as a collective platform for industrial development, infrastructure advocacy, member support and engagement between industrial enterprises, government authorities and the wider community.
Genesis
As Visakhapatnam grew into a major heavy-industrial hub around the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and BHPV, the state government allocated land in Gajuwaka for the Autonagar Industrial Estate. Hundreds of small ancillary units — casting, fabrication, packaging, electricals — set up there. Facing shared infrastructural hurdles, their owners united to form VASSIWA, registered under No. 550/90.
Infrastructure
VASSIWA's early decades focused on making Autonagar a functional industrial estate — petitioning for dedicated power substations, internal roads able to carry heavy cargo, and centralized water and drainage for casting and fabrication units.
Modernisation & advocacy
In 2014, VASSIWA worked with the local MSME Institute to propose a dedicated technology centre in Autonagar, later sanctioned by the Union Government for testing, quality audits and trade training. Today VASSIWA represents thousands of industrial units and continues to advocate with the RBI and central ministries for financial relief and better credit access.
